What Vegetables Grow In West Central Florida?

Postby Neurodude on Mon Jun 14, 2010 11:29 am

My wife and I are starting a vegetable garden. So far only sweet corn, cucumbers, canteloupe and yellow squash are growing well.

What else do you know of that grows good in a sandy soil?

Okra? Peas? :?:

Thanks,
Dude

dearest dude, i have lived here since my birth in 1979 and my parents before then. we have always had a garden. we start our garden every year around february 9th but for sure after the last freeze. we have always had a lot of luck growing a lot of different kind of vegetables. okra, tomatoes, greens, herbs, corn, cucumbers, radishes, peppers, pumkins, then watermelon, cantaloupes, ect ect ect! some of the things start to die out when the summer gets too hot, but you can always have a fall garden started around september-october. i think it is very important to be able to grow your own food and i love that now my children can get out there with me and learn importance of it also! good luck! sincerely, valerie
